President and CEO
As the founder and CEO of Rainmaker Global Business Development, Clark Grue’s success has been built on his impressive talent for developing unique connections and aptitude for identifying lucrative business opportunities. These strengths have been the guiding force behind his many achievements and that of Rainmaker.
In 1999, after serving as a Vice President with Network Innovations, Clark was chosen to launch the British Trade and Investment Office in Alberta, establishing this first-of-its-kind British representation in a foreign market. In 2004, Clark joined Calgary Economic Development where he played a lead role in rebuilding the organization, guiding its expansion in one of Canada’s fastest growing and most competitive cities.
Among Clark’s many leadership skills, several of his professional achievements centre on finding the right people and motivating them towards a common goal. In 2005, he worked with Imperial Oil to move its head office from Toronto to Calgary, efficiently managing several teams through complex situations to a successful outcome. His passion for people and for building organizations led to Clark being named one of Calgary’s “Top 40 Under 40” in 2005. Clark is involved in a number of professional boards and organizations including a role on the Advisory Board of the University of Lethbridge, Faculty of Management.
Clark continues to bring his passion for people and fostering business growth and expansion together at Rainmaker. Supported by a strong team from a variety of sectors and a Board of Directors with deep experience and networks, the organization is dedicated to building and implementing effective strategies for growth and economic development in jurisdictions around the world. Under Clark’s leadership, Rainmaker continues to rapidly grow in key markets, with a seventh office opened in Brussels last year.

Vice President of Strategic Development Services
As Vice President of Strategic Development Services at Rainmaker Global Business Development, Darren Stewart is responsible for taking Rainmaker clients through the Rainmaker Strategic Development process, thus enabling them to strategically grow their businesses. Prior to joining Rainmaker, Darren worked in a variety of industries as a business and corporate development consultant. His recent contracts include an oil and gas directional drilling service company, and a social media finance platform where he provided strategic development consultancy. These opportunities allowed Darren to expand his expertise and business network in both the oil and gas and social media technology industries.
Darren is a serial entrepreneur who has been involved in a variety of businesses and industries. Darren was a co-founder of Broker Payment Services, a web-based funds transfer system developed to securely move funds between an investor’s bank and brokerage accounts.
Darren’s finance experience was developed working in corporate development for a technology incubator and as an investment adviser focused on new business financing. His educational background includes a Bachelor of Commerce degree, Petroleum Land administration certificate and is currently a student of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Business Valuators.

Vice President of Economic Development Services
With 13 years of experience in Economic Development and a strong thirst for the entrepreneurial spirit Cyril Cooper brings a diversity of experience to the Rainmaker Global Business Development team. Cyril is the creator of Central Alberta: Access Prosperity, a two million dollar investment attraction company that focuses on foreign direct investment and business retention opportunities for 42 Central Alberta communities. Cyril is a strong believer in collaboration and views regional cooperation as a means to strengthening investment opportunities.
In 2011, under Cyril’s guidance, Central Alberta: Access Prosperity won six prestigious awards; two from the International Economic Development Council, two from the Economic Developer Association of Canada and two from Economic Developers of Alberta. Previous to this Cyril was Chief Executive Officer of the Red Deer Regional Airport, where his leadership and direction enabled the airport to save ten million dollars though a creative marketing program that ensured high passenger traffic volume and the securement of government grants.
Cyril’s talent lies in assessing opportunities and determining unique strategies for business growth and the attraction of venture capital. His combined knowledge in municipal legislation and land-use policy has helped guide and streamline the development approval process for several companies, further ensuring their success.
He has extensive experience in key policy issues affecting the regional business climate including: permit streamlining and growth management, target industry sector strategies, tax incentives and economic revitalization programs. Cyril also has strong real estate credentials, always ensuring that projects are developed with a solid foundation for upward growth.
