TIMOTHY J. KOZMYK, MBA, BSc.

Chairman of the Board

A man of vision, Timothy Kozmyk has earned a reputation for excellence and innovation.  He has been an executive and entrepreneur for the past thirty-four years, consistently building success into his many ventures.

Mr. Kozmyk joined Rainmaker after a highly successful career in the energy industry.  The vision of the company with its’ unique Business Development model captivated Timothy and inspired him to join Rainmaker, both as a Principal and Chairman of the Board.

Mr. Kozmyk’s professional career began as a Geologist in 1980 with Kansas-based Koch Industries.  Koch is the second largest privately owned company in North America with over 100,000 employees, operations in 60 countries and a reputation for performance excellence.  Mr. Kozmyk held progressively senior roles at Koch including Vice President Exploration for the company’s upstream exploration and production division.  In that capacity, he directed the strategic growth and development of the company’s highly successful Canadian heavy oil and oil sands business.

Desiring to build his own company, Mr. Kozmyk and a group of colleagues took over the management of the fledgling TSX-listed BlackRock Ventures in 1999.  Under the stewardship of Timothy and his colleagues, the market capitalization of BlackRock grew organically from an initial $25 million in 1999 to $2.4 billion in 2006 when the company was purchased in a friendly acquisition by Shell Canada.

Since leaving BlackRock, Mr. Kozmyk has been involved in successful ventures in petroleum, real estate development, energy services, manufacturing, management consulting services and consumer goods and services.  His tenure at Koch and BlackRock provided him with a unique strategic management skill set that he now shares with Rainmaker’s clients to help them maximize their competitive performance.  Timothy holds an MBA from the University of Liverpool and a BSc. in Geology from the University of Calgary.

Clark Grue

President & CEO

As one of the founders and the CEO of Rainmaker Global Business Development, Clark Grue has built a unique organization designed to evaluate and open markets abroad for Rainmaker clients. Having established offices in the UK, Houston, Dubai, New York, Bogota, Munich, Toronto and Brussels, Clark takes pride in using creative strategic approaches to assist companies as they expand globally in the Energy, Mining and Infrastructure industries.

Clark grew up and was educated in British Columbia where he achieved his undergrad degree in Business Administration from Trinity Western University. He moved to Toronto to establish a sales office for global satellite communications company Network Innovations in 1996; working primarily with mining companies on global projects. He transferred to the company’s head office in Calgary to take on the role of Vice President in 1998.

In 1999, Clark was chosen to launch the British Government’s Trade and Investment Office in Alberta, establishing this first-of-its-kind British representation in a foreign market. This unique opportunity exposed Clark even more to international business and provided a world class training ground for doing business in an increasingly global market. He was guided and mentored by multiple British High Commissioners to Canada and Consuls General in Vancouver and Toronto during his time with the British government.

In 2004, Clark joined Calgary Economic Development where he played a lead role in rebuilding the organization; guiding its expansion in one of Canada’s fastest growing and most competitive cities. He served CED as VP Investment and Trade Development until he co-founded Rainmaker GBD in 2007.

Among Clark’s many leadership skills, several of his professional achievements centre on finding the right people and motivating them towards a common goal. In 2005, he worked with Imperial Oil to move its head office from Toronto to Calgary, efficiently managing several teams through complex situations to a successful outcome. His passion for people and for building organizations led to Clark being named one of Calgary’s “Top 40 Under 40” in 2005.

Recently selected to represent Canada on the B20 SME and Entrepreneur task force for the G20 in Turkey, Clark also serves on Board of Directors of Milan based Gicotecnica Engineering, the Executive Committee of the National Board of the American Chamber of Commerce in Canada, the SME committee of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and the Advisory Board of the Faculty of Management for the University of Lethbridge.

Clark continues to bring his passion for people and fostering business growth and expansion together at Rainmaker. Supported by a strong team globally and a Board of Directors with deep experience and networks, the organization is dedicated to building and implementing effective strategies for global market development. Under Clark’s leadership, Rainmaker continues to expand its clientele and market reach in the energy, mining and infrastructure industries globally, connecting its clients to expanded opportunities.
