Chairman of the Board
A man of vision, Timothy Kozmyk has a well-earned reputation for excellence and innovation. He has been an executive, entrepreneur and investor, and has built success into each and every one of his ventures.
Timothy joined Rainmaker after a highly successful 32 year career. The vision of the company and the unique business development model devised by Clark Grue captivated Timothy and resulted in his joining Rainmaker’s board as Chairman.
Timothy’s career began at Kansas-based Koch Industries in 1980. Koch was the second largest privately owned company in North America, and being part of the company was a tremendous experience for him. A geologist by trade, Koch gave him the opportunity to move into management and executive roles where he honed his business and leadership skills.
After nearly twenty years at Koch, Timothy wanted to build something from the ground up. With a group of colleagues, Timothy took over the management of fledgling BlackRock Ventures in 1999. BlackRock wasa publicly-traded exploration and production company, focused on Canadian heavy oil.
BlackRock was a great success and gained a reputation for using innovative approaches in acquiring strategic land accumulations and producing heavy oil. This success and reputation made BlackRock a very attractive investment and, in keeping with the planned exit strategy, ultimately lead to their acquisition by Shell Canada in 2006.
After the sale of BlackRock, Timothy spent his time and efforts on building strategic growth companies. It is this line of interest that ultimately led him to Rainmaker, where he remains today.
